Institute Vienna Circle

The Institute Vienna Circle (IVC) is an international nonprofit society founded in October 1991 by Friedrich Stadler and is located at the University of Vienna.

Objectives

The society has two main objectives:

An important goal of this effort is the democratization of knowledge. It leads to science being understood as a process of enlightenment in contrast to irrationalism, dogmatism and fundamentalism in any social setting, but in cooperation with developments of research.

Activities

The IVC puts its vision into practice by organising a large number of workshops, conferences and seminars on the philosophy of science and related topics. In addition, the IVC publishes very actively in this area at an international level.

The IVC hosts a unique research library of outstanding value to researchers all over the world. It includes jewels such as Otto Neurath's Private Library, the Robert S. Cohen Collection and Archives, the Adolf Grünbaum Archives, the Kurt Blaukopf Library, the Kurt R. Fischer Library and the Eugene T. Gadol Library.
